How can you help the SDCWC and support its mission?

There many opportunities for different kinds of involvement and support.

  • Become aware of watershed issues: SDCWC holds monthly public meetings that include presentations by experts, local people, and agency or public officials on topics of interest to SDCWC residents. Attendance at three of six meetings allows attendees to participate in advisory votes. Meetings are usually held the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30PM in the North Lincoln Hospital Education Room.
  • Volunteer monitoring and restoration projects: SDCWC has held over 5 outdoor work days each year in a variety of locations in the Salmon River and Drift Creek watersheds. For volunteer opportunities and job descriptions, click here.
  • Technical and organizational advisory committee participation: SDCWC is looking for volunteers with special skills and interests who can help with monitoring and restoration proposal development and review as well as with volunteer recruiting, public education, and fundraising.
  • Join our mailing lists to stay informed. We have two public mailing lists.
    • The general mailing list will keep you informed of meetings and volunteer events. It has low, moderated traffice, usually 1-3 emails per month. To join the general list, send email to general-subscribe@salmondrift.org
    • The talk list is unmoderated and intended to have discussion of topics and sharing of news or events of relevance, at least tangentially, to the watershed council. Currently this list is low traffice (0-4 emails/month.) To join the talk list, send email to talk-subscribe@salmondrift.org.

  • Donate financially. SDCWC is a 501(c)3 non-profit and your donation is tax-deductable. Donations cover essential costs and projects that are not covered by grants, such as public outreach, grant writing time, and smaller projects.

    Please send checks to:
    SDCWC
    PO Box 112
    Neotsu, OR 97364

You can also make a secure donation to us with your credit card through paypal by clicking on the following link. (Note however, that we are charged 2.2% + $0.30 per transaction, so checks are a more efficient use of your money.)

  • Donate items. Below is a list of current needs.
    • Outdoor lighting (solar powered and/or motion detecting?) The path to our office is dangerously dark, which is a problem for meetings and when we work late nights. This is especially concerning as the neighborhood isn't particularly safe (we've had a break-in already.) The school doesn't seem willing to provide something.
    • Medium/large LCD monitor
    • The office manager monitor is small and flickers, which gives users a headache and makes us less productive.
    • Screen for projections
    • Room dividers cubicle walls
    • LED lighting. Flickering flourescents are hard on the eyes and spirits. LEDs are energy efficient but a little pricey for us, but we want them anyway. Floor lamp or track style preferred. Needs to be installed with minimum impact to the wall.
    • Conference Table with chairs
    • Extension cords
    • Nicer speakers that can hook into a computer. We use these while working and if showing a film. Current ones are ok but low quality and not enough volume for movie showing to a room of people.
